Peterborough: Creating the UK's Environment Capital

Peterborough is a great location for a Sustainable Transport Centre. The City Council has a strong commitment in this field and a track record of action since 1993. In that year it became one of England’s four “Environment Cities”. In 2008 it launched its policy to become “UK Environment Capital”.

Along with Cambridge, Peterborough is on the edge of Fenland, England’s largest area vulnerable to sea level rise. The city is readily accessible from London and much of middle England.
