South of the river will be the main 5,000 m TransEco Centre.  Here will be fun and informative exhibits on multi-modal worldwide sustainable transport technology
. There will be examples of state of the art systems enabling transport to lower its carbon footprint. Movement by road will be much in evidence. Aviation and shipping will be focused as well.

The TransEco Centre has a tilt towards railways, focussing on 21st Century Rail. In addition, the centre will spell out the need for lifestyle and behavioural changes, so necessary to decarbonise global transport.

As a visitor destination with a message, the success of this innovative transport enterprise will hinge on it holding together education and entertainment. The operation of the centre has to be that of a visitor attraction paying its way; generally exhibition space will be for hire. The building is being designed for 50,000 visitors per annum. Conference facilities are included in the plans.

Powered transport here and worldwide is over 90% dependant on the combustion of fossil fuels. De-carbonised mobility is sustainable transport’s ideal. Meanwhile, the task is staged cuts in transport’s CO2 emissions. The overall UK government policy objective for 2050 is an 80% reduction on the CO2 emissions of 1990. This is a huge challenge, not least for the transport sector. Global annual oil production is around 80 billion barrels; about a third of this is used for transport, although the UK figure is closer to a quarter. Transport is a key player in UK policy to cut CO2 emissions. It is no less important in reducing humanity‘s global carbon footprint.
